I'm Biased -- and Lovin' It!
Check out the newest release in the Green Knits pattern line: the Bias Baby Cardi is knitted in garter stitch out of a yarn that is 100% corn.  The yarn is called Cornucopia (of course), and comes in a variety of rich colors that are a delight to knit with.

I'm taking an all-day class on bias knitting with Lily Chin at Stitches in October, so I expect that I'll be designing more of these interesting and easy patterns.

Don't forget to participate in the "Shop Your Local Yarn Store" promotion!
The free pattern promotion has been getting a great response, thanks to all of you who are visiting your LYS lately!  If you missed out on the announcement last month, you can still read the details here.
Up Next: Twisted Ribs & Diamonds Vest
You may have noticed my tendency to design vests lately.  And it's not over yet -- take a look at the Twisted Ribs & Diamonds (TRD) Vest.  It's made in Lanas Puras Melosa yarn, which is available at One Planet Yarn and Fiber.

Like many clothing items, vests come in and out of popularity over the years.  We're in one of the upswings of this cycle right now and it just so happens that vests are a great project for knitters who want to advance their skills.  Lots of people start with scarves or ponchos and get stuck there because they're intimidated by the idea of knitting an entire sweater.  Just think about it though -- a vest doesn't have any sleeves to sew in, so you can build your confidence with the main body before moving on to sweaters.  Or you may find that vests are interesting enough to occupy your needles for a long time!

The Twisted Ribs and Diamonds Vest pattern will be released by late October, but if you want to get your yarn now so you can start knitting as soon as you get your pattern, go to One Planet and get this much yarn: Finished chest sizes: 31 (38, 41, 44, 50, 53, 57) need 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5) skeins of Melosa worsted weight yarn.  Now to decide which of their gorgeous colors.......
I'm off to Stitches East in a couple of weeks.  I just love the anticipation of the whole thing!  If you've never gone to one of these large knitting events, you really should try to get to one at least once.

As always, I'd love to hear from you:  What kinds of patterns do you want to see?  Do you have a favorite yarn you'd like to see used in a pattern?  Just drop me a line!

Sincerely,
Kim Smith
