In response to knitters' increasing desires to extend your environmental awareness to your love of fiber, I'm thrilled to announce a new pattern line this month: Green Knits. Read about the background of this line (see article below) and be among the first to get the D-Rib Scarf pattern!
There's also been a new addition to the existing line of FlexPatterns. The Odyssey Jumper is flattering to a variety of figures and is so easy to knit. I hope you'll enjoy making and wearing it.

| Why Green Knits? |
| With the recent explosion of earth-friendly yarns and their increasingly wider availability, I wanted to design some patterns to help you use some of them. See the first Green Knits pattern here.
Many knitters, including myself, tend to feel they are connected to the planet in a positive way. But as the world population is finally turning its attention to matters of planetary survival, we wonder about the impact of our knitterly activities too. And we find that some farming and/or yarn production processes use chemical fertilizers, pesticides and lots of petroleum. Ick. What can we do about it?
Well, it would be quite bold to suggest that we only knit with organic yarns, but quite frankly, that's asking a bit too much for most of us, isn't it? But, if each of us just knits one project using organic and/or sustainable yarns, together we can make a difference. And who knows, you might find you want to try many of them!

You know how sometimes you find a pattern that you just "have" to knit, but then find that your yarn store doesn't have the yarn specified in the pattern? And you aren't sure how to pick an alternate yarn? The FlexPattern line was created to solve that problem once and for all. Each pattern gives you a list of yarns that would work as easy substitutes, as well as some ideas for simple modifications you can make to the design to turn it into a one-of-a-kind creation if you want.
